First verse that popped in my head regarding the question of the necessity of baptism for salvation:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
So, no, baptism isn’t a requirement for salvation. That’s essentially saying that Jesus payment for our sins is insufficient on its own. However, for those of us who truly have placed their faith in Him, we should want to publicly express our love and dedication to Him through the obedient act of baptism.
