It seems to be the summer of Steve Carrell of The Office Fame. First Date Night, now Despicable me, and a little bit from now another movie is coming out. I love this guy! Witty, Sarcastic, sometimes self-deprecating humor. Despicable me is a little above average flick. It has its moments of lulls in the action, but has enough moments, especially from the “minions” to stay entertaining to a certain extent. Gru, who is voiced by Steve Carrell(In a Russian type accent), tries to be a super villain or rather a successful one, despite many failures and an unsupportive mother. Gru works together with his scientist, one dr. Nefario, who adds a degree of hilarity in his own right, to achieve his villainous goals. Along the way however, during one of his schemes, Gru, adopts three girls that open his heart to values he would rather not succumb to. It’s these values that shape his behavior and ultimately make his attempt to steal the moon to be recognized as the supreme villain turn on its head and be used for a virtuous cause. In this way he defeats his arch rival (Vector, played by Jason Segel) and turns from his wry, ill intentioned ways. This is more of a kids flick, but I personally give it 3 and a half stars.
