Hey every one! I’ve just uploaded some work in projects on to soundcloud to get some feed back from ya. Please let me know what you think of these. http://www.soundcloud.com/steppaholicJanuary 22, 2011 at 10:19 am #35976
I’ll comment when I get the chance bro.January 22, 2011 at 11:16 am #35975
As a suggestion, I would recommend doing your formats on soundcloud as 320kbps mp3. It would be the easier to download and the most compatible.January 22, 2011 at 7:03 pm #35977
Thanks man… Yeah I would upload in mp3 but where I am right now I can’t upload anything bigger than 10Mb onto the internet… so yeah.. :January 22, 2011 at 8:43 pm #35978
snaps! well I’ll try to convert the files. I would like to do a video on my feedback to save some time and to give some better advice. This way you can see what I’m doing.January 22, 2011 at 9:29 pm #35979
Awesome dude, sounds great. Would it help if you had the .rns files? because I could send them too you… but then you might be missing some samples ‘n stuff…January 23, 2011 at 7:14 pm #35980
no. By the way are you using reason or renoise? I think .rns is the file format renoise uses, maybe I’m wrong. Anyway even ogg vorbis or 128kbps mp3 would be better than m4a or whatever format that you choose because they are more compatible with DAWs. Anyway, are you tracks supposed to be “mastered?” I was wondering if you did some overall compression or anything like that on your tracks. By the way, if I make a video, it will probably be a very large, large, file. Is there a way for you to get to faster internet? Like at a public library. If not I might have to send the video on a DVD in the mail. I hope this could be avoided though.January 23, 2011 at 8:11 pm #35981

RNS file format is Reason’s project file format.January 23, 2011 at 10:40 pm #35982
I’ll be back at home in about 5 weeks. So i will just continue workin as I usually do. I will send you newer versions of these later in an 320(kbps)? mp3 format, and then I can DL any size file. Sound good? And yes I do have a mastering suite, on these tracks. I have made a makeshift side mid mastering suite and I have the track compressed quite a bit(I think I do anyway, I’m not sure what is concidered alot of compression) I am also thinking of getting Logic when I get home, so I’m hoping that will help my production. Anyway thanks for the efforts, I’ll get back to you laterJanuary 24, 2011 at 5:06 am #35983
the overall limiting of the track is way, way quite for edm. Your track could be twice as hot; I can go over this in the video. Until I get you your video it would be cool if you could watch these other two videos that I’ve done. They go over some basics that most people don’t talk about.
I think this can help you a lot, maybe I’m wrong. By the way the plugin is called Span for the free audio analyzer. I guess it really doesn’t matter though since you use reason, but maybe you can rewire it into another host like reaper. I actually like to rewire renoise into reaper; it makes an awesome workflow.January 24, 2011 at 6:16 am #35984
Thanks bro, I watched a little bit of the first vid, bit I’m not supposed to stream audio here..(I’m in a very, very small comunity(5 familys) on the west coast of vancouer island…) So like I said,,, I’ll probably just keep working as I am for the next 5 weeks, and then once I get home I will start to get very serious with production(I am also still in Highschool, so I still wont be able to be like, super serious). And btw, would you sugest Reaper, or Logic to rewire with Reason? I dont really know anything about plugins/rewiring… I do know that a few of my favorite artists use Logic(Reso). And I have never really heard of Reaper…. Also, what is the difference between the Reaper full licence and the Reaper discount licence? Thanks for being so cool to the newbs Graphite! It is much, much appreciated.January 25, 2011 at 12:38 am #35985
Logic is only on Mac OS. So if you don’t have a Mac then that’s out of the question. Reaper is a good inexpensive program. I would try that first, esp since it has a demo too.January 26, 2011 at 6:44 am #35986
well the discount license is for personal use where the regular license is for businesses and that sort of stuff. Reaper is really cheap and very easy to use. Reaper actually is a lot like logic on the layout and the GUI but reaper can be customized to look however you want it to look. There are all sorts of skins that can be downloaded. I prefer reaper to logic but only because I have third party plugins that I like a lot better than the ones that come with logic. Logic is a great all around bundle but it is around $500-600. Reaper only cost like $40. A lot of magazines like SOS are serious about reaper and have things for it every magazine. It is a solid DAW and doesn’t cost much.February 5, 2011 at 4:00 pm #35987
Finally I found a way to make an half hour video using free screencasting software and adobe audition. Sorry the video is crappy, but the sound isn’t that bad. It might be an hour before the video loads in order for you to stream it.
