I haven’t posted much on this site. I love reading the forums. I came from a situation in which I was a player in the music and club scene on the west coast, replete with drug addiction and immorality of all kinds. I met my wife during that time. We left the west coast to escape our easy access to the most destructive of chemical drugs.
Since then, I’ve rededicated my life to Christ. I was raised in a Christian home but as with many PK’s I went on a prolonged period of prodigal behaviour. Through that time God allowed me to experience pain and despair, giving me over to the forces of evil that I was chasing, in order to further his own glory! Praise God for that! My pain brought me back to him and is just now teaching me humility. I have finally started to realize that I have always sought my own glory, instead of giving the glory to God, to whom it is due.
Pray for me to learn humility please.
But more than this: Please pray for my wife. It is very hard to witness to your own wife who has known you at your worst. My wife has replaced chemical drug addiction with alcoholism and she is so miserable. I have had a few opportunities to witness to her, to tell her that she can be saved from the misery through accepting the gift of grace made possible by Christ’s vicarious sacrifice. I am a poor vessel for the message because of my emotional history and relationship with her. Please, please, pray that my wife will come to know the freedom I have found. Please.August 6, 2012 at 10:36 pm #38780
Lord Jesus we bring this case before you! We declare that salvation and freedom come only through the blood of Your Son Jesus! Thank you for this man and his heart’s desire for his wife. I ask that you would break in and answer his prayers. You say that a broken and contrite heart You will not despise. So Lord, show your loving kindness and bring salvation. Give his wife the knowledge of God and the Love of Jesus Christ, wich surpasses ALL knowledge.
Father, draw her close to you and reveal Yourself as the tender loving Dad you are. Bring her comfort and peace.
In Jesus name, AMEN.
Bless you brother.August 10, 2012 at 3:22 am #38779
I really appreciate it.
My wife has agreed to read the Gospel of John. Scripture is the best witness of all, I can testify to that!August 11, 2012 at 10:43 am #38778
That is great to hear that you guys are going to read the Bible together. I would also recommend trying to read the whole Bible with her, going over the gospels perhaps first. Lord God we pray that this brother can minister the love of Christ to his wife and that she can see Your love through him. I pray that you give his household peace that surpasses all understanding and that You by mighty Spirit can draw this brother’s wife to the Rivers of Living Water!!!
Amen!August 25, 2012 at 2:34 am #38777
Hey, I think the prayers are working…. My parents, you guys, me…. She’s really getting interested. There’s something going on in her heart.. She says she’s coming to church with me this Sunday. She came with me and my sister and brother in law while we were on vacation and the sermon was about getting free from fear, something she’s always wished she could get…. I don’t think she’s ever been to a church where they actually dug into the scripture like at my sister’s church…. Please keep praying!September 24, 2012 at 4:39 pm #38784
Lord Jesus, finish the work and encounter her heart in a personal way. Let her begin a sweeter and deeper relationship with you!
Standing with you!October 6, 2012 at 4:32 am #38783
It’s working but boy it’s taking a long time… but I suppose in the face of eternity it’s not so long… but last night I overheard my wife talking on the phone about a recent visit to my sister’s church with me in WI…. “I’ve never seen anything like it!…. It wasn’t like anything I’ve seen before.” She was so surprised about the love she saw, how the sermon was a detailed exposition of the scripture and how it didn’t seem at all like people were there because it was a weekly chore to accomplish. She’s even starting to ask how Jesus’ sacrifice could do anything for her, she doesn’t get it, but that means she’s thinking about it. My prayers are redoubled….
She’s talking about the real eternal issues. Please keep praying.October 6, 2012 at 6:10 am #38781
