I am a huge fan of EDM and I want to start producing my own music. What software would someone recommend to start with that wont break my wallet on a windows platform?

I haven’t started producing anything yet, but I’d like to. I asked on a subreddit, and I got Cubase and Fruity Loops for PC. For Mac though, there is Logic, which I hear is cheaper. I am still waiting for my wife to give me the green light for a new computer (we need one) and then it’ll be another discussion for the software. I’m leaning towards Mac, but may go PC. If you find something that works, and is great for the money, let me know.

I don’t know if this is late or not, but I personally got started with FL Studio (Fruity Loops). You can do a free trial and test it out, and you can export songs too! You just can’t save them. Anyways, its really cheap to get started, plus it works really well with outside VST instruments (you can find a ton of free virtual instruments on the interweb).

Otherwise, I’ve heard Propellerhead Reason is a pretty good one too. Never done anything with it so I don’t know a ton about it. Fairly cheap too if you look at some of the big names in DAW’s.
