Ok. So it looks like we may be looking at getting a video game system. I need help in which one I should be going for. Here are my things:

1.) I can probably get a bunch of xbox games for free. (not sure if they are any good though)

2.) This would probably have to be a christmas present because I am not spending the money to buy one myself, so it cant be too expensive.

3.) There are different kinds of xbox’s, and I dont get which one does what.

4.) There is a 6 year-old involved so which one has good kid games.

5.) Jen likes the Wii becaues its got all the girly stuff, but does the Wii have in depth games?

6.) Can you play other systems games on an xbox? (Someone just told me that but I dont believe it.)

7.) What is the best system for the cheapest price?

    Thanks!

Wii is cheap, great system for kids and girls…but not for serious gamers. But your not one of those so i would say thats your best bet ;) .

well your vote just got overruled by having a child and Jen playing. The Wii will be the best bet with all the games for kids. The girly game comment, well, I played against several girls in Halo online, so not much validity there, haha.

price wise, you get a Wii system for same price as a 60GB Xbox 360, both are 249 USD. You can get an xbox without a hard drive for 199 USD. Though if you plan to download demos, videos, music, etc… then you’ll need the HDD.

You can play a good bit of original xbox games on the 360. Here’s a list you can check those free games against: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

So I would get the Wii so everyone can be playing. If you personally play like shooter, serious games, then just save for the xbox 360 for later, but get a Wii for them. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Wii and has fun games.

Almost right.. The 120Gb 360 Elite is now $299 with a $50 Mail in rebate making it $250.

Yes you read that right.. the elite w/rebate matches the Wii price-point.

The BC games aren’t really worth your time unless your a hardcore fan of one of the games on that list (ie. EA Rugby 2005.. w00t!) or you have a bunch of them laying around and your deciding what to trade in.

Yes.. ignore all that other crap above and just buy a wii. Well.. wii fit and all the like are targeted towards women in a very serious way but for ‘actual’ games, the girly defense is sort of retarded.. unless you think Mario Kart, Smash Brothers or Metroid are ‘girly’… OK Samus is a girl I know LOL

Go for the ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ coming out in Nov. over Super Mario Galaxy.. you’ll thank me later.

Rock Band and Guitar Hero are easy picks

There are many shooters on wii so don’t think there isn’t any.. They just aren’t quite as top notch as other platforms.. The new game Conduit is a good example.

If you want to play more upper age category games go for the new Tiger Woods 10 which rocks hard, or Resident Evil 4, Dead Space Extraction (9-28), DDR!, Punch Out is a major work out. Oh and if anyone had tried this game you will agree Boom Blox is a wickedly addictive wii game.

I posted that list cause he said he could get some xbox games for free.

I still have my original Halo 1&2, Star Wars and some others for xbox.
